Sadie Sink has responded to the growing fan campaign calling for Taylor Swift to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Dazzler. The actress, who recently made her MCU debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, was asked whether she could help bring her longtime friend into Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot.
The suggestion stems from years of online speculation linking Swift to the mutant pop star, a role many fans believe would suit the singer. While Sink and Swift share a friendship that began during the making of All Too Well: The Short Film, the actress made it clear she has little influence over Marvel Studios’ casting decisions.
Sadie Sink Says She Can’t Influence Marvel’s Casting Decisions
During Teen Vogue Fest 2026, Sink was presented with a hypothetical question about whether she could persuade Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to cast Swift as Dazzler in a future X-Men film if her character eventually crossed paths with the mutants.
Laughing at the unexpected question, Sink replied, “That was not the question I thought. That went in a whole other direction, but I love it.” She then added, “I don’t think I have that kind of sway.”
Although the response was brief, it quickly drew attention from Marvel and Swift fans who have spent years campaigning to see the singer play Alison Blaire, better known as Dazzler. The mutant character can convert sound into light and balances her superhero life with a career as an internationally famous pop star.

The fan casting has gained traction partly because of Marvel Comics’ recent direction for the character. As part of the From the Ashes era, Dazzler received a new solo comic series that drew comparisons to Swift’s career and public image. Marvel Group X-Men Editor Tom Brevoort, who has described himself as a Swift fan, previously acknowledged that the singer served as a creative reference point for the character’s modern portrayal.
Speculation about Swift joining the MCU has also persisted since reports and fan theories suggested she could appear in Deadpool & Wolverine. Although that never happened, discussions surrounding Dazzler have continued as Marvel Studios develops its next X-Men film.
Since making her MCU debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, fans have become even more convinced that Sink could play a major role in Marvel’s future mutant stories. Her comments at Teen Vogue Fest came before the film’s release, but they have taken on new relevance following her introduction to the MCU.
While Sink may not be able to influence who joins her in Marvel’s mutant universe, her response is unlikely to end fan speculation that Swift will eventually take on the role of Dazzler.
