The stone reads “May Parker, when you help someone, you help everyone,” with a birth year of 1964 carved beneath it. It is a small detail, easy to miss in a scene built around Peter’s grief. But that single number is the key that locks Brand New Day into a specific year on the MCU calendar, four years past where the last movie left off.
Why The Headstone Confirms 2028
Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with May’s death and Peter’s memory-erasing spell, and that film has always been placed in 2024. May’s gravestone puts her age at death at 60, which only works if the movie you’re watching is set in 2028. Ned and MJ’s fast-forward into their MIT years, mentioned early in the film, supports the same math, since the four-year jump lines up with a 2024 departure point.
That also makes Brand New Day the furthest forward any MCU film has reached on the timeline, sitting just ahead of Thunderbolts*, past Daredevil: Born Again season two, and directly before Avengers: Doomsday.
