Joanne and Noah walk onto a Malibu beach as an engaged couple, and the Nobody Wants This Season 3 finale ends as they begin their wedding ceremony minutes after her mikvah. So are they actually married, or did the show leave them mid-vow?
On the surface, Joanne’s mikvah clears the essential spiritual milestone required for the ceremony, and co-showrunner Jenni Konner has confirmed that the couple ultimately crosses the finish line as a married pair. However, the messy legal realities and impromptu nature of the beach ritual might just complicate their happily ever after.

Nobody Wants This Season 3 Finale Recap: What Happens in Episode 10

The wedding invitations have officially gone out, but drama peaks immediately when Morgan refuses to attend Joanne’s mikvah if Sasha is present. During her final conversion class, Joanne confides in Sebastien about her fear that Morgan will skip both the ritual and the wedding. He offers a simple piece of advice inspired by the title of Morgan’s abandoned book idea: make her.
Armed with this mindset, Joanne and Noah tell Morgan that Sasha won’t be there, only to pull up directly outside his house. Joanne announces she is forcing her sister to fix the rift, though her attempts to turn the tense conversation into a game fall flat. During the drive, Joanne also discovers that Bina has unilaterally cancelled their wedding DJ in favor of a 14-person band.
When Morgan tries to leave the car, she confesses to Joanne that she is torn over whether Sasha is the love of her life or simply teaching her how she deserves to be loved. In her haste, she sprains her ankle on the walk, prompting Sasha to carry her the rest of the way to the rented Malibu house. Upon arrival, Lynn notes that she is glad all four are traveling together so Morgan and Sasha can finally sort out their post-New York fallout.

The tension boils over when Esther presses for details; just as Sasha walks in carrying Morgan, she demands to know if they have slept together. After learning about their time in New York, Esther reveals she slept with Sasha just the day before. As Bina and Lynn immediately begin trading insults, Rabbi Eden quietly pulls Joanne and Noah away toward the beach.
Down on the sand, Joanne reflects on how her reasons for converting evolved over time, shifting from Noah, to because of him, and finally to herself, explaining that she wants her future children to belong to something larger than their immediate families. She enters the ocean alone to recite the blessing while Noah and Eden look on.
Impulsively, Noah asks Eden to marry them right then and there. They use Joanne’s ring, borrow one of Eden’s spares, and retrieve wine and a ketubah from the trunk of Eden’s car, recruiting a random nonfamilial witness walking his dog on the beach to step in.
Though Joanne briefly hesitates over the pre-printed invitations, Noah reminds her that the wedding was always supposed to be about them alone. Eden begins the ceremony as My Kinda Love by Stella Lefty and Bailey Zimmerman plays out over the fade-to-black.
Are Joanne and Noah Legally Married in Nobody Wants This?

Spiritually and emotionally, Joanne and Noah cross the finish line of Season 3 as husband and wife. Creator and executive producer Erin Foster joyfully confirmed their status, stating, “They’re married… I’m so happy!”
Co-showrunner and executive producer Jenni Konner clarified the exact nuance of the beach ceremony, explaining:
“They’re married in the eyes of God, but not in the eyes of anyone else yet.”
Despite the lack of advance planning, the couple miraculously pulls together all the traditional elements right on the sand: Noah asks Rabbi Eden to officiate, celebration wine is at the ready, a ketubah (Jewish wedding contract) is retrieved straight from the trunk of Eden’s car, and an impartial witness, a random local walking his dog on the beach, steps in to complete the moment.
However, because the ceremony is entirely impromptu, it lacks the official civil paperwork required for a legal marriage in California. While they share a deeply binding religious sacrament, the formal legalities and public announcement still await them once they face their bickering families.

What Happens to Morgan, Sasha, Esther, and Bina at the End of Season 3?

Morgan spends the finale icing her injured ankle on the deck while watching Sasha and Esther navigate their explosive fallout. Esther confronts Sasha privately, calling him out for repeatedly denying anything was happening with Morgan before telling him he can do whatever he wants, especially since she remains exclusive with Julian following Episode 8. Nearby, Bina fires a final parting shot at Lynn, declaring she has no more sons left for Lynn’s daughters to corrupt.
Ultimately, this chaotic climax is a direct consequence of Joanne’s own intervention. By ambushing Morgan, she triggers the chain reaction that sends her and Noah fleeing to the beach for an impromptu elopement, their first major decision all season completely untouched by outside interference, shrinking a guest list from 250 down to just two attendees.
With the invitations already mailed out and Bina stubbornly pushing ahead with her grand backyard wedding plans, any public ceremony that follows will ironically celebrate a marriage that has already taken place. In doing so, Joanne and Noah quietly reclaim total control, leaving Bina’s micromanaged vision completely out of sync with reality.
