Taylor Swift is making sure Phoebe Bridgers knows exactly how much her new album Lost Weekend means to her. On Monday, Swift took to her Instagram Story to celebrate Bridgers’ 32nd birthday, and used the occasion to deliver a glowing, unprompted review of her friend’s latest record.
“It’s her birthday but she gave us a gift – haven’t been able to stop listening,” Swift wrote, sharing the artwork for Bridgers’ new album, Lost Weekend. “This album is an absolute triumph in every way. To write about grief with such vulnerability and detail, and to trust the listener with this much honesty.”
She closed the post simply: “Happy bday @phoebebridgers I love you!!”
It’s a rare move for Swift, who doesn’t often publicly review other artists’ music. Lost Weekend, released August 14, marks Bridgers’ first solo album in six years, following 2020’s Punisher, and arrived after a single, “Lost Boys.”

Swift and Bridgers’ bond goes back further than a birthday shoutout. In 2021, Bridgers featured on “Nothing New,” a vault track from Red (Taylor’s Version), a collaboration Swift has said came from wanting to sing the song “with another female artist” she loved. The two later performed the track live together when Bridgers opened for the Eras Tour in Nashville.
Since then, Bridgers has kept busy well beyond her solo work, picking up a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album with boygenius’ The Record in 2023, along with two more wins for “Not Strong Enough.” She’s also set to make her acting debut in Primetime next month.
Bridgers will take Lost Weekend on the road later this year. The Lost Tour kicks off September 14 in Indianapolis and runs through December 12 in Stockholm, with 45 shows planned across North America and Europe. Whether Swift makes a surprise appearance along the way remains to be seen, but given her review, she’s clearly already a fan.
