Ariana Grande fans have watched her run one of the busiest stretches of her career, back-to-back Wicked press tours, an Oscar nomination, and now a full arena tour. Her team just confirmed that the streak is about to hit pause, and they didn’t hold back on why.
The timing makes sense on paper. Grande wraps her Eternal Sunshine Tour on September 1 after a 10-show run at London’s O2 Arena, closing out her first tour since 2019’s Sweetener run. She’s also just stepped away from a major West End role, so a break isn’t coming out of nowhere.

Here’s where it gets specific. A rep for Grande told press that she’ll be “taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour.” The statement didn’t dance around the reason either.
“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny,” the rep said. “This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”

That’s about as direct as a celebrity statement gets. Rather than a vague “focusing on herself” line, this one names the scrutiny itself as the reason for stepping away.
The break comes with real consequences already in motion. Grande has exited the West End revival of Sunday in the Park with George, where she was set to reunite with her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey. The production will need to recast her role entirely.
There’s a wrinkle worth watching, too. Grande is still set to star in Focker In-Law alongside Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller, and that film lands in theaters the day before Thanksgiving. A holiday release at that scale usually comes with a full promotional press tour, which could put her stated break to the test almost immediately.
For now, fans have one clear date to circle. The Eternal Sunshine Tour closes out September 1 in London, marking the last time Grande takes the stage before stepping out of the spotlight.
