Mike Flanagan’s television adaptation of Carrie has officially climbed to the top of Prime Video’s global streaming charts, earning critical acclaim across the board, including high praise from original author Stephen King, who hailed it as a ‘brilliant’ adaptation.
While Prime Video has yet to officially renew the series for a second season, Flanagan has already laid out a roadmap, revealing that his dream scenario spans three seasons. With the story left wide open, stars Summer H. Howell (Carrie White) and Samantha Sloyan (Margaret White) are already sharing their bold ideas for where the terrifying telekinetic saga could go next.
Summer H. Howell and Samantha Sloyan Reveal Carrie Season 2 Ideas

Speaking in an interview with Collider, the co-stars outlined vastly different, yet compelling, directions for a potential sophomore run. Sloyan pitched one of the series’ most ambitious concepts, saying she wanted have a deep dive into Margaret White’s youth.
“Where did she start? What was Margaret’s high school experience?,” Sloyan asked.
This idea actually plants its seeds in Season 1. A chilling flashback reveals a young Margaret displaying early signs of telekinesis, which she once described as having “flexed.” Because Margaret meets a definitive end in the finale, when the interviewer played by Kate Siegel stops her heart, any narrative focusing on her character in Season 2 would inherently have to function as a prequel flashback.
Howell, on the other hand, is looking forward rather than backward, hoping to see her character reclaim her humanity after a harrowing debut season.
“I want Carrie to find that light that she started the series out with again because I know she definitely doesn’t end with it. So, yeah, come back to her,” Howell shared, with Sloyan expressing immediate agreement.
Howell’s hope for redemption isn’t out of the question. The chaotic finale of Season 1 sees Emaline pull a traumatized Carrie from the rubble of Chamberlain and drive her away from the wreckage, leaving Carrie’s ultimate fate and identity wide open.

With the town destroyed and her abusive mother gone, Flanagan has a blank slate to explore how Carrie navigates a world outside of her mother’s oppressive religious fanaticism and whether she can heal or lean further into her terrifying power.
Flanagan himself is more than ready to return to the telekinetic universe if given the green light.
“In a dream scenario, I think it’d be really cool [to continue the story]. I’ve never gotten to do that. And we certainly tried to leave the ingredients there for that to be the case,” Flanagan told PEOPLE.
Given the show’s massive global streaming numbers and King’s glowing endorsement, a Season 2 pickup feels less like an if and more like a when. Whether Flanagan chooses to unearth Margaret’s dark origins or follow Carrie on a quest to find her lost light, fans are guaranteed an unforgettable ride.
All eight episodes of Carrie are currently streaming on Prime Video.
