While Luffy‘s battle with Imu dominates One Piece Chapter 1192, Usopp delivers the chapter’s biggest character moment. In a battle where retreat appears to be the only sensible option, the Straw Hat sniper refuses to leave Elbaf behind and makes it clear that protecting Luffy matters more to him than the legendary titles surrounding his captain.
The chapter, titled “We Won’t Stand For It!!!” gives Usopp a rare chance to step forward when Scopper Gaban urges the giants to retreat and help Luffy escape.

Usopp Refuses To Leave Luffy Behind in Chapter 1192

Imu’s Shield of Emptiness has left Luffy struggling, with even his Gear 5 attacks failing to break through the defense. Seeing the danger, Gaban tells the giants, including Hajrudin, that continuing the fight could get Luffy killed and that they should focus on getting him off Elbaf.
Usopp arrives on Hajrudin’s shoulder and refuses to go along with the plan. Instead of running, he argues that the Straw Hats cannot abandon Elbaf or the giants after everything the Giant Warrior Pirates have done for them.
Usopp makes his position even clearer when he talks about Luffy himself. “Luffy’s always serious about everything,” he says, arguing that this is simply who their captain has always been.
He then rejects the idea that Luffy’s identity should change how the crew sees him. Usopp says he does not care whether Luffy is called Nika, Joy Boy or even compared to Gol D. Roger.
“Whether dressed in white or an Emperor of the Sea, nothing’s changed!!”
Usopp also reminds Gaban that the giants have already helped the Straw Hats repeatedly, making it impossible for them to simply turn their backs on Elbaf.
“And you expect us to turn our backs and run, leaving behind those to whom we owe so much?!”
His loyalty reaches its strongest point when he makes it clear that Luffy’s freedom matters more than any title surrounding him. Usopp’s argument is simple: Luffy is still Luffy, regardless of what the world calls him.
That conviction leads to the declaration that gives the chapter its reported title:
“If they try to take away Luffy’s freedom to save Elbaf, we will never forgive them!!”
The moment leaves Gaban stunned and gives Usopp another major step in his journey toward becoming the brave warrior of the sea he has always wanted to be.
After years of moments where Usopp’s fear has been central to his character, Chapter 1192 puts his loyalty ahead of that fear. The battle may belong to Luffy and Imu, but Usopp’s decision to stand his ground could become one of the chapter’s moments fans remember most.
