Sakamoto Days Chapter 274, titled “The Choice of Life,” puts Kei Uzuki’s fractured identity at the center of the story as his fight with Nagumo reaches a deeply personal breaking point. What first looks like another brutal confrontation quickly turns into something much more important, with Rion Akao’s personality forcing Uzuki to confront the choices that shaped him.
The chapter also leaves Uzuki’s fate hanging in the balance. As his mental world begins to fall apart and Nagumo finally pushes him to face the truth about Rion’s death, the question is no longer simply whether Uzuki will survive the fight, but whether the version of Uzuki we have known is already disappearing.

Uzuki Finally Has To Face Rion’s Truth
The fight takes a major turn when Uzuki combines Prime Sakamoto’s personality with Rion Akao’s eyes, creating an overwhelming version of himself. Nagumo realizes how dangerous the situation has become and tells Akira to get to safety, but she refuses to leave.
When Akira is injured again, something changes inside Uzuki. Rion’s personality takes control because she would never allow her abilities to be used against Akira.
Inside Uzuki’s mind, Rion confronts the person hiding behind all those personalities. She makes it clear that the world Uzuki has been trying to create is not what she wanted.
“Rion didn’t want this.”
Uzuki has spent years using Rion’s identity as part of his fractured self, but the chapter makes it clear that her memory was also tied to his guilt. Rion reminds him that she wanted a world where people could actually live in peace, not one built around killing.
Nagumo’s confrontation is even harsher. He directly tells Uzuki that his own choices led to Rion’s death.
“You’re the one who killed Akao.”
When Uzuki tries to push the blame outward, Nagumo gives him the answer he has been avoiding.
“The world wasn’t wrong. You are.”
That forces Uzuki to relive what happened with his brother Sei Asaki and the Al-Kamar orphans. Asaki had ordered him to kill Kindaka while threatening the children’s lives, leaving Uzuki trapped between impossible choices and ultimately leading to Rion’s death.
Akira tries to reach him as well, reminding him that Rion never wanted him to continue down this road. Her ideal was much simpler: a world where people could live normally.
The final imagery makes the chapter even more difficult to read. Uzuki is shown in the mental space associated with his earlier identity, sitting on a throne surrounded by the weight of his past, before suddenly disappearing from it.
That does not confirm that Kei Uzuki has died or that one personality has permanently vanished. It does, however, suggest that something inside him has changed, and with Nagumo’s blade at his neck, Chapter 275 could reveal whether Uzuki has finally chosen his own life or lost himself completely.
