Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is finally here, bringing iconic benders from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra into a competitive 2D fighter. With the game launching across current-generation platforms, many fans are also wondering whether they’ll be able to play it on their iPhone or Android device.

The question has become even more common as unofficial APK downloads and mobile app listings have begun appearing online. If you’re looking for a legitimate mobile version, here’s everything you need to know about the game’s availability, supported platforms, and whether a smartphone release is likely in the future.

Is Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Coming to Mobile?

The short answer is no. As of July 23, 2026, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is not available on iOS or Android, and developer Gameplay Group International has not announced any official plans to release the game on mobile.

Although you may come across third-party websites claiming to offer APK downloads or unofficial mobile versions, these are not legitimate and should be avoided. If Gameplay Group International confirms a mobile port in the future, we’ll update this article with the latest information.

If you want to play Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game today, your options are currently limited to PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. The Xbox Series X|S version was originally scheduled to launch alongside the other editions on July 23, but Gameplay Group International announced a last-minute delay after encountering an unforeseen backend issue.

The studio confirmed that the Xbox version will now launch on September 3, 2026, while existing pre-orders will remain active and won’t be canceled. In a statement addressing the delay, Gameplay Group International said its priority is delivering “the best possible experience on every platform” and that the team is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch players will have to wait a little longer. The Switch version is scheduled to arrive later in 2026 and will initially be available as the Standard Edition only.

At launch, it won’t include cross-play with other platforms or language localization beyond English, although the developer says both features, as well as an upgrade path to the Deluxe Edition, will be added in a future update. A version for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is also reportedly in development.

Why Isn’t Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game on Mobile?

The biggest reason is the game’s design. Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game isn’t a casual button-masher built for touchscreen controls. Instead, it’s a competitive 2D fighter centered around precise directional inputs, lengthy combo strings, unique character mechanics, and rollback netcode for smooth online matches.

Each fighter is designed around their bending style, giving every character a distinct identity. Aang emphasizes speed, movement, and evasive techniques, while Korra is built around aggressive, high-impact attacks.

The Standard Edition is priced at $29.99 and launches with 12 playable characters from both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, including Aang, Korra, Zuko, Katara, Toph, Azula and Iroh. A Year 1 DLC Pass will expand the roster with five additional fighters after launch.

Early reviews have also been encouraging. Ahead of launch, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game earned a Metacritic score of 81, while OpenCritic lists an overall score of 82 with a 64% critic recommendation rate. Outlets including SteamDeckHQ and GamingBolt praised the game’s hand-drawn visuals, accessibility features, and beginner-friendly tutorials, though reviewers also noted that mastering its combat system requires practice.

That learning curve is another reason a mobile version appears unlikely. Despite carrying one of Nickelodeon’s most recognizable franchises, the game doesn’t include adjustable difficulty settings for Story or Arcade Mode.

New players are quickly matched against AI opponents capable of advanced combo strings, making Training Mode almost essential for anyone unfamiliar with traditional fighting games.

While modern smartphones are more than capable of handling the game’s visual style, translating its precise controls to a touchscreen would likely require significant compromises to the combat system. Until Gameplay Group International says otherwise, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game remains a console and PC experience.

It’s also been a busy week for Avatar fans beyond the game’s launch. Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender is set to premiere exclusively on Paramount+ on July 25, 2026. The animated film, which takes place between Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, was originally scheduled for an October release before its debut was moved forward following an online leak.
