Battlefield fans are used to sponsored crossovers by now, but this one comes with something the series has never had before: the actual actors.

Battlefield 6 has spent Season 4 teasers hyping naval warfare, a reimagined Wake Island, and its biggest map yet. Buried inside that reveal was a partnership nobody saw coming, one that pairs the grounded military shooter with Hollywood’s most famous fighter pilots. For a franchise that once let players ride a Red Bull-branded motocross track, teaming up with Top Gun almost feels like the crossover was inevitable.

Battlefield 6 Confirms Top Gun: Maverick Crossover With Miles Teller Voicing Rooster

Electronic Arts and Paramount Games Studio have officially announced a Top Gun: Maverick collaboration arriving in Battlefield 6. The event adds the F-18 Super Hornet and F-14 Tomcat as playable jets, along with three characters pulled straight from the film. Lt. Bradley Rooster Bradshaw, Lt. Robert Bob Floyd, and Adm. Solomon Warlock Bates all join as operators, and all three are voiced by their original film actors, Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman, and Charles Parnell.

Teller confirmed his involvement directly, saying, “It’s a huge honor to appear in a long-running franchise like Battlefield with its millions of fans, and talented people working on it. And with Top Gun, it’s like two titans meeting.” Pullman echoed the sentiment, adding, “Battlefield is very intense, whether you’re in the sky or on the ground or fighting in the sea.”

The crossover also introduces two new modes focused on aerial combat. Carrier Strike revives Battlefield 4’s Carrier Assault concept, tasking two teams with capturing flags to launch missile strikes at the enemy’s aircraft carrier before a final boarding assault.

Over on the Redsec side, Fighter Sweep is a jets-only Gauntlet mission set on a modified Tsuru Reef, giving dogfight fans a mode built entirely around air superiority.

Season 4 itself kicks off July 21 with naval warfare and new content, but the Top Gun event is being held back as a headline addition for phase 2 alongside the Wake Island relaunch. EA is framing it as the biggest seasonal drop the game has had so far, and pairing it with movie-accurate jets and film-voiced characters is meant to give it staying power beyond a typical cosmetic crossover.

The Top Gun crossover arrives in Battlefield 6 on August 18.
