Tom Cruise Raves Over Taylor Swift’s Football Education
During an appearance on The Tonight Show, Tom Cruise reflected on taking a rare night off from his global promotional tour for Digger to attend a Kansas City Chiefs game alongside Swift. When host Jimmy Fallon pressed him on what two of the world’s biggest cultural titans actually discuss inside a private luxury box, Cruise revealed that the pop icon turned out to be an unexpected football savant.
“She was schooling me on football,” Cruise admitted. “For real. Like, she was bringing the football… First of all, she’s a genius. I’ve been following her since she was a kid.”
Cruise noted that because of his relentless filming schedule, he hadn’t attended a live football game since before the COVID-19 pandemic. While Swift famously admitted to knowing virtually nothing about the sport when she first started dating All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, Cruise explained that her rapid transformation into a student of the game is complete.
“She knew nothing about football when she met Travis,” Cruise said. “It was like her: ‘What was it like playing against your brother? Like, tackling each other?’ I think Travis—I told Travis—he was like very patient. But now she’s telling you what’s up and knowing the plays. She knows. She’s just bringing it.”
Outside of breaking down defensive coverage and red-zone routes, Cruise added that the two connected over their shared passions as storytellers, praising Swift’s humor, songwriting, and burgeoning work behind the camera as a director.
The pair caught the Chiefs’ season opener together, chatting away inside the private suite. And while the outing marked Cruise’s first major public appearance since COVID-19, for Swift, it was her very first game day stepping out as Mrs. Kelce.
