Despite joining several high-profile projects in recent years, Sandra Hüller still appears hesitant about committing to a potential Project Hail Mary sequel.
The German actress recently took part in a panel discussion at an international film festival, where a reporter from Variety asked whether she would be interested in returning for another installment of the sci-fi adaptation. Hüller, however, remained cautious with her response.
“It’s difficult to say, you know. I don’t know what will happen in the future,” Hüller said. “I like to try different things and feel very lucky because there are different possibilities.”

While little is currently known about Hüller’s upcoming projects, her comments suggest she remains careful about becoming tied to long-running franchises. The actress has seen her international profile rise significantly since earning an Academy Award nomination for Anatomy of a Fall, making her one of the most sought-after performers in European cinema.
As a result, major studios have increasingly pursued opportunities to work with her.
Meanwhile, Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, has already generated major anticipation among science fiction fans. The film is based on the bestselling novel by Andy Weir, whose previous book, The Martian, was successfully adapted into a blockbuster film.
Hüller’s involvement in the project has only added to the excitement, which is why many fans are already wondering whether a sequel could eventually happen.
Still, any future installment will likely depend on the film’s commercial success once it reaches theaters. And based on Hüller’s recent comments, returning for a franchise does not currently appear to be a major priority for the actress.
