Jordana Brewster believes she knows the perfect ending for Mia Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise, and it starts with putting Mia back behind the wheel.

In an interview with Variety, Brewster reflected on Mia’s evolution throughout the series and admitted she would like to see the character regain the independence and leadership she once had in earlier films.

“She has become more passive over time, and I think it’s really important for us to try to fix that,” Brewster said. “It would be amazing if we were able to do that in our final movie. I’d like to see her take control of her story and not be reacting all the time to whatever’s going on.”

To explain her vision, Brewster pointed to Fast Five, which many fans still consider one of the strongest entries in the franchise. Despite Mia being pregnant during the events of the film, Brewster noted that the character remained deeply involved in the action.

“I remember in Fast Five when she is pregnant, and she’s helping them figure out what’s next, jumping off buildings, leading the guys,” Brewster recalled. “It is literally being a part of the action and not just standing by.”

Brewster’s comments come at an important moment for the long-running franchise. She was among several cast members invited to Cannes this week for a special screening of The Fast and the Furious, celebrating the film’s 25th anniversary.

The event served as another reminder that the franchise is approaching its finish line.

The final installment, titled Fast Forever, is currently scheduled for release on March 17, 2028. The road to the finale has reportedly been complicated by multiple production delays, budget disputes with Universal Pictures, and several screenplay rewrites.

Still, now that the franchise is finally nearing its conclusion, Brewster seems clear about what she wants for Mia’s final chapter: One last drive, on her own terms.
