The MCU keeps pulling in big names, and now fans are wondering if Bob Odenkirk could be next. The Better Call Saul legend has been linked to Marvel for years, and his latest comments have reignited the conversation all over again.
This isn’t the first time Odenkirk’s name has come up in Marvel circles. Back in late 2022, rumors suggested Marvel was eyeing him for the role of Wonder Man, potentially as Neal Saroyan, Simon Williams’ agent and manager in the comics. For a while, it looked like it could actually happen. Then Odenkirk shut it down completely.
Bob Odenkirk’s MCU Comments: From “Not Built For It” to “I Love What They’re Doing”

In 2023, Odenkirk told The Independent he didn’t think he was “built for that world,” adding: “I’m built for characters that make you feel like that guy could live next door.” That seemed like the end of it.
But at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival, his tune had shifted. Speaking exclusively with The Direct, he addressed the old Wonder Man rumors and made it clear he’d actually welcome a Marvel role: “Surely I would. Yes. So many great actors do it, and they’re great people. Kevin Feige, I did speak to him once. Good guy. And I love what they’re doing, I love how hard they work at making their universe work, building it out.”
He did clarify he was never actually up for a role in Wonder Man, putting those specific casting rumors to rest once and for all. But the broader door? He’s left it wide open.
It’s not hard to see why fans are excited. Odenkirk has significantly expanded his range in recent years, successfully transitioning from comedy legend with Breaking Bad and dramatic powerhouse to a full-blown action hero through his work on the Nobody movies and the festival crowd-pleaser Normal. That versatility makes him a natural fit for the MCU’s increasingly grounded, character-driven projects.
Wonder Man itself is currently deep into development on its second season after its debut became a critical sensation, with many calling it one of Marvel’s best ever shows. The series follows Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sir Ben Kingsley as they navigate the Hollywood film industry, crossing paths with the entertainment elite along the way. Given Wonder Man‘s meta Hollywood setting, Odenkirk would slot in perfectly.
As of now, Odenkirk has not been reported as being in talks with Marvel Studios about any specific role or project. But the interest is mutual, the timing feels right, and Kevin Feige already has his number.
