Sicily, played by Ainy Medina in her series debut, barely gets a scene to herself in Season 2 Episode 7, yet the whole night hangs on her. She serves as the crucial bait that catches Paul, and her sudden death marks the turning point where Frankie’s jokes finally stop landing.

Sicily is a dancer at a strip club, and Paul had been seeing her until she ghosted him after about six months. She is brand new to the show, and Frankie is the first person we watch her deal with.

He books a private dance and she lays out her rules before the music starts.

“I set the pace. You don’t touch unless I move your hands,” she says.

Frankie answers with a speech about a parasite that creeps up the body to the brain. Then he asks whether she knows a man named Paul O’Donnell.

Sicily calls Paul right after that conversation and asks to see him. Paul had just been dumped on the roadside by Conrad, and he jumps at the chance anyway. I found it a sad moment, because he sounded genuinely thrilled to hear from her.

She tells him she missed him, and then Frankie appears at the table. Paul ends up tied to a chair in the wrecking yard, and Frankie forces him to call Harry with a cover story. Paul claims Sicily’s flatmate Wendy, who dances as Sapphire, is sleeping with Frankie, and that £60k will buy her help.

The lie works because Sicily is real. Paul really did bump into her, so he can say her name without flinching. He still gives the game away by calling Harry bro, which Harry has banned unless Paul is in trouble.

Why Does Frankie Kill Sicily?

Harry walks into the Riviera Palm Casino alone and greets her by name. Sicily whispers that she is sorry, and Frankie catches it and makes her confirm she is being paid. Then he dismisses her.

“Sicily, luv, thanks for playing. Your services here are no longer required.”

Frankie kills her at the table before turning to Harry with a smile. I think the scene works as a message to Harry, because it shows Frankie will discard anyone once they have done their job. It also stings that he had just told Harry’s side not to mess with Paul’s emotions, right before he finished using Paul’s emotions as a weapon.

The episode never says, and that is probably the point. She is broke, she needs the money and she apologises to Paul, which could mean guilt or fear. Frankie never explains how he got to her.

My read is that Sicily was a pawn caught between a payday and a man who did not leave room to say no. Her death does not settle that question, but it does answer one bigger thing. Nobody who gets close to Frankie in this show is safe, and Michael Cooper may be about to find that out too.
