Taro Sakamoto has spent years trying to bury the man he used to be. Chapter 275 makes it clear that burial is finally happening, and Sakamoto Days just told its readers exactly how much story is left before it does.
What the Lead Color Page Is Really Signaling
Chapter 275, titled Baton, arrived with a rare production push featuring 22 pages in total, the magazine cover, a lead color spread contrasting Prime Sakamoto against his current self, and a separate colored page showing a photorealistic Tokyo at night. Weekly Shonen Jump reserves that kind of visual weight for turning points, and the editor’s note leaned into it directly.

Inside the chapter, Nagumo has his blade at what he believes is Uzuki’s throat, only for the body to pull away at the last second. Inside Uzuki’s own mind, the original Kei Uzuki is shot in the head by Prime Sakamoto, leaving the fabricated Prime personality in full control of the body.
What follows is Shin stepping in to buy time. He finds Akira and gets her working on Sakamoto’s wound while he takes on the Prime-controlled Uzuki himself, dragging the fight through a building, onto a moving bus, and out into the street.
The twist lands hard when the figure everyone assumed was stabbed turns out to be a disguised Nagumo the entire time, and the chapter closes on the real Taro Sakamoto throwing something at Prime Uzuki’s chest, the clearest setup yet for the final confrontation the series has been building toward since its opening arc.
That buildup is why the lead color page matters as much as the fight itself. Between the cover placement and the spread format, Shueisha is signaling that Sakamoto Days is entering its endgame, with most estimates putting the remaining run at somewhere between two and five chapters.
Readers will have to wait a little longer to see where it lands. Weekly Shonen Jump is taking a break for the Silver Week holiday from September 19 through 26, pushing Chapter 276 to September 28, 2026.
