Chapter 275, titled “Baton,” delivers a brutal answer to the question left hanging after the previous chapter: can the original Kei Uzuki still be saved? The latest chapter appears to settle that question, as Uzuki’s original personality is killed from within his own mind and replaced by a copied version of Prime Sakamoto.

The twist completely changes the final stretch of the story, turning Uzuki’s body into the weapon his brother Sei Asaki always wanted him to become. It also sets up a confrontation that could bring the manga’s long-running conflict to its biggest battle yet.

After Nagumo forced Uzuki to confront the truth about Rion’s death in Chapter 274, it seemed possible that the real Uzuki might finally reject the personalities he had created to survive his trauma. Chapter 275 takes that possibility in the opposite direction.

Inside Uzuki’s mental world, the original Kei Uzuki is suddenly shot in the head from behind. The attacker is a fabricated Prime Sakamoto personality, seemingly confirming that the original Uzuki has been permanently erased.

With his original consciousness gone, Uzuki’s body is now controlled by this ruthless version of Prime Sakamoto. The transformation makes him even more dangerous, as the copied personality turns the body into the kind of merciless assassin that Asaki had always wanted Uzuki to become.

The newly transformed Uzuki immediately goes after Akira, forcing Shin to step in. Their fight spills from a building onto a moving bus before reaching the road, with Shin doing everything he can to keep Akira alive.

Uzuki eventually catches up to her and appears to stab his target, but the person he actually hits is Nagumo, who has disguised himself and taken the attack meant for Akira.

Before Uzuki can finish Nagumo, Taro Sakamoto finally enters the fight. The chapter ends with Sakamoto throwing an object at Uzuki’s chest, setting up what looks like a showdown between the Sakamoto he is today and a violent recreation of the assassin he once was.

The contrast is reinforced by the chapter’s lead color page, which places current Sakamoto against Prime Sakamoto. After Uzuki’s original personality is seemingly gone for good, the story has transformed its final conflict into something even more personal: Sakamoto fighting a weaponized version of his own past.

Sakamoto Days Chapter 276 will be released on September 28, 2026.
