Most Hollywood character prep involves dialect coaches or weight training, but Andrew Garfield‘s latest role required making sense of custom bedside buttons and pet tigers.
Prepping to play Siegfried & Roy’s legendary showman Roy Horn, Garfield quickly realized the real man’s morning schedule was less about normal human habits and more like a fever dream, and that exact level of utter madness is why he fell in love with the part.

Appearing on the latest episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Garfield opened up about playing legendary Las Vegas performer Roy Horn in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Wild Things, admitting the real man’s eccentricities stuck with him during filming.
“They were crazy, Roy the guy,” he said. “So I play Roy and I’m so protective over his spirit. I loved playing him so much.”
The protectiveness stems from how far Horn’s devotion to his animals went. Garfield described a daily routine that sounded closer to a fairy tale than a Vegas legend’s morning schedule.
“He was truly kind of, he thought he was a tiger in a past life,” Garfield noted. “To the point where by his bedside table he would have a button whenever he woke up at 10 or 11 in the morning. He would roll over and press the button which would send a bell signal out to his favorite tiger of that month to be allowed inside the house to climb up the stairs and get into bed with him and snuggle him awake.”
Garfield made sure to underline just how surreal that image really was.
“And it’s like a 500 lb Snow White killer. And he’s just like, yeah, come here you little beauty, I love you so much.”
Wild Things casts Garfield opposite Jude Law as Siegfried Fischbacher, dramatizing the duo’s rise from underground Vegas magic acts to headlining superstars with their white tiger show. The series draws from Apple’s own podcast of the same name and follows the story through the 2003 on-stage attack that ended Horn’s career.
A premiere date has not been confirmed, but Garfield’s press run suggests Wild Things is leaning fully into how strange the real story was.
