The Battle Van also reinforces the film’s grounded direction. Instead of focusing on multiversal threats, Spider-Man: Brand New Day embraces New York’s criminal underworld, where Frank Castle’s methods, equipment, and experience naturally fit.

Frank Castle’s appearance is about much more than adding another recognizable Marvel character. He represents the darker future Peter Parker risks embracing if grief and isolation completely consume him.
