A Quiet Place Part III has been in production for weeks, but its lead actress hasn’t stepped in front of the camera yet.
Emily Blunt confirmed in a recent interview that she has yet to begin filming her scenes for the highly anticipated threequel, even as her co-stars are already deep into production. The reason is straightforward, and it says a lot about the trust between her and director John Krasinski, who also happens to be her husband.
Why Emily Blunt Is the Last to Start Filming A Quiet Place III
In her own words: “I haven’t started yet. I mean, John has started filming with Cillian, Millie, Jack O’Connell, and Jason Clarke. They’ve all started. I think John knows that I’ve been doing two press tours back to back, so he’s going to start me later,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
It’s a refreshingly candid moment that puts a human face on a massive production. Blunt has been one of Hollywood’s busiest stars this year with Obsession and Devil Wears Prada II among the recent releases, and Krasinski is clearly working the schedule around her commitments rather than the other way around.
The ensemble assembled for Part III is arguably the strongest the franchise has ever fielded. Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe all return as the Abbott family, joined by Cillian Murphy reprising his fan-favorite role as Emmett from Part II, with Jack O’Connell, Jason Clarke, and Katy O’Brien rounding out a stacked cast of newcomers.
The three existing films in the franchise have grossed a combined $900 million at the box office, making Part III one of Paramount’s most anticipated releases on the horizon. Krasinski has described the threequel as the concluding chapter of the Abbott family’s story, and his decision to set the Hamilton song “One Last Time” on his filming announcement post only underlined that point further.
Krasinski confirmed the New York City setting by sharing an image of a clapperboard at the Manhattan Bridge Arch in Chinatown, further expanding the franchise’s scope beyond the isolated farmland of the original.
A Quiet Place Part III arrives in theaters on July 30, 2027.
