Variety reported that Streep landed $12.5 million for the sequel and that all three actors brokered a favored nations deal. That means Hathaway and Blunt each received a $12.5 million payment as well.
The upfront pay is not the full picture. The actresses also have bonuses tied to pre-negotiated box office goals, with each star’s total potentially reaching $20 million.
The jump from the original is large. Hathaway earned just $1 million for the 2006 film, while Streep earned $4 million and Blunt $800,000.
The sequel’s budget of $100m reflects that spending, with director David Frankel telling The New York Times most of it went to the cast.
