isn’t ready to close the book on Mac Gagan. Fresh off his return as Scorpion in : Brand New Day, the actor just gave fans a very specific idea of how much further this character can go.

Gargan has been simmering in the background of the since his brief appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2017, long before he ever suited up. Brand New Day finally let him loose as a full-blown villain, mechanical claws and all, going toe to toe with ‘s Peter Parker. For a character who spent years as a background tease, that alone felt like a payoff.

But according to Mando, what audiences just watched on screen barely scratches the surface of who Mac Gargan can become.

Michael Mando Says Scorpion Could Become the Ultimate Venom in the MCU

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Mando laid out just how much runway he thinks the character still has.

“The potential growth of [Mac Gargan] is enormous. Brand New Day is level one of this character’s potential & he has at least two or three levels up from here, one of them being the ultimate form of Venom,” he said.

That last part is the one fans will latch onto. In the comics, Gargan didn’t stay Scorpion forever. During ‘s Dark Reign era, he was fused with the symbiote and spent years operating as Venom himself, long before Eddie Brock reclaimed the identity.

By referencing that evolution, Mando pointed to a storyline from the comics that he believes has significant potential for the character. Whether Marvel Studios chooses to adapt that arc for the MCU remains unconfirmed.

Mando’s comments also frame Scorpion’s Brand New Day appearance as a starting point rather than a conclusion. Calling it “level one” reflects his view of the character’s long-term potential rather than any confirmed roadmap from Marvel Studios.

Whether that means a mutation storyline, a symbiote encounter, or something else entirely remains unknown, though the actor is clearly aware of where the comics eventually took his character and isn’t shy about pointing fans toward it.

For a villain who spent nearly a decade waiting in the wings before finally getting his moment, the idea that Gargan is only getting started raises the stakes considerably. If Marvel Studios eventually adapts Gargan’s Venom storyline from the comics, Scorpion’s role in the franchise could grow far beyond a single Spider-Man outing.

is now playing in theaters, with Marvel yet to confirm when, or if, Mac Gargan’s next transformation begins.
