Tom Hiddleston has spent well over a decade navigating Marvel‘s notoriously strict secrecy protocols, masterfully deflecting questions about what’s ahead in Avengers: Doomsday. But keeping those plot twists hidden from Hollywood insiders was never the hard part because it turns out his dog has been sitting in on every single classified MCU script reading the entire time.
The Rehearsal Habit That Makes Tom Hiddleston’s Dog Marvel’s Ultimate Insider
Sitting down with Josh Horowitz on Happy Sad Confused alongside his Tenzing co-star Genden Phuntsok to discuss their Everest drama and Marvel’s future, Hiddleston was asked if he ever runs his lines with his dog.
“Always. Always,” he said.
He went on to explain that his dog, Bobby, has become an unwitting front-row witness to some of the biggest surprises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Rather than sitting static at a desk flipping pages, the actor prefers memorizing dialogue on the move, turning every daily stroll into an active, spoken-word rehearsal session.
“I take my lines on dog walks because I need to learn my lines on the move. And so I’m like, ‘Okay, let’s go out.’ And he starts wagging his tail and they go for a walk. The ears prick up. And I’ll have my lines recorded sometimes and I’ll be doing them out aloud.”
The routine prompted Horowitz to joke that simply trailing Hiddleston through the park with a microphone might just be the most foolproof way to score Avengers: Doomsday leaks before anyone else on the planet.
Bobby, however, couldn’t care less about the multiverse.
“He’ll look back at me and go, ‘Forget it. He’s running his lines. I’ll go find some rabbits or whatever,'” Hiddleston laughed.
While Hiddleston remains fiercely tight-lipped with the press, only teasing that what Marvel has cooked up for Doomsday is “monumental” and unlike anything the studio has attempted before, his four-legged walking companion already knows the whole script by heart. Luckily for Kevin Feige, Bobby isn’t breaking his NDA for anyone, rabbits included.
As for what Loki is actually facing when Avengers: Doomsday arrives, fans will just have to wait because Bobby clearly has no intention of talking.
