Speaking during an interview with Collider, Scodelario was asked whether Susie’s fears about Eddie turning into a monster are justified. She didn’t hesitate and went on to name the exact moment that shift takes place.

“I think so,” she said. “I think the moment that plane crashes, we’ve lost him. And I think that’s something that deep down Susie knows that maybe Bobby doesn’t quite understand.”

That crash refers to the death of Eddie’s new wife, Bella, in The Gentlemen Season 2, a loss that sends Theo James’s character down a path of torture and revenge. Susie reads the shift immediately, even if her father Bobby, played by Ray Winstone, doesn’t fully register it.

“I do think he definitely takes a turn into a mode that we are all unprepared for, and that we’ve tried to build and tried to shape, but now he is enjoying almost. And that’s when someone can get truly quite dangerous,” Scodelario warned.

That last line lands as the real thesis of Eddie’s arc. He isn’t just broken by grief, but also starts to find pleasure in the violence that follows it, and Scodelario’s read lines up with what showrunner Matthew Read has said about Eddie’s ambition curdling into something darker across the season.
