That works out to 10 AM ET and 7 AM PT on Thursday, November 19, for readers in the United States, and 8:30 PM IST on the same day for readers in India. The series publishes monthly, so one new chapter arrives each month.

What Happened in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 38?

Chapter 38, titled “Follow Your Heart”, opened with Kawaki visiting Naruto and Hinata in the Daikokuten dimension. He told the unconscious Hokage that the Otsutsuki and the Shinju must be wiped out, with Boruto first on the list, and admitted he sealed the couple so Naruto would never watch him kill Boruto a second time. Kawaki then left for Himawari’s house and swore to protect her.

At the Shinju hideout, Hidari lunged at Sarada and Code blocked him with his prosthetic hand. Code’s real hand then passed straight through Hidari, whose body is covered in Code’s own Claw Marks, and Sarada used the opening to hit Code with a fireball. Code later pinned her by the right arm and left leg, and Hidari stopped him when he moved to gouge her eyes out.

Back in Konoha, Kobu confronted Shikamaru with torn pages from Nishi‘s notebook that carried the passcode for Boruto’s handcuffs. He then proposed replacing the temporary Eighth Hokage with Konohamaru Sarutobi. Koji later told Shikamaru that Kobu and the other Five Nations leaders want to dismantle the shinobi villages, and that a puppet Hokage is how they plan to start.

Koji also warned Boruto that Momoshiki will manifest again if he loses his composure, then told him to follow his heart. Boruto teleported in a moment later and slashed through the left side of Code’s mouth.

What to Expect From Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 39

The most immediate question is how Boruto and Sarada handle Code and Hidari at the same time. Boruto has beaten Code before, and he erased most of Hidari’s body with an unfinished Rasengan Uzuhiko back in Chapter 12. Sarada is still in Code’s grip, though, which limits how freely he can swing.

Hidari is the bigger unknown. He wanted to devour Sarada in Chapter 37, yet he stopped Code from taking her eyes, and he was built from Sasuke’s chakra. We will likely find out in Chapter 39 whether that was possessiveness or something closer to the man he was copied from.

The real danger sits inside Boruto. Koji has already tied Sarada’s rescue to a Momoshiki takeover, and Boruto walked into the fight carrying that warning. His first move was to cut Code’s face open, which is not the behavior of someone staying calm.

Konoha has its own clock running. Shikamaru has to answer for the torn pages while Kobu lines up Konohamaru as his replacement. Meanwhile, Furuta has agreed to help stall Jura and keep him from returning to the hideout. If that stall fails, Boruto and Sarada could be facing a third Shinju before the fight is settled.
