Three years following the end of Moon Knight on Disney+, there is still no word about the character’s next step, and the person responsible for the series is no better informed than the rest of us when it comes to what’s coming next.

Creator and original showrunner of Moon Knight, Jeremy Slater, has provided an honest update regarding where Season 2 stands, and it’s not exactly promising.

Moon Knight Showrunner Confirms He Hasn’t Heard From Marvel in Three Years

In a recent interview with ComicBook, Slater was rather blunt with his response: “I haven’t talked to Marvel in 3 years at this point. I don’t know. Is there gonna be a Moon Knight movie? Is there gonna be a Midnight Sons movie? Is there gonna be a Season 2? I’m as much in the dark as everyone else.”

This is quite telling information, and a stark change from how he spoke to the same outlet back in 2025. When asked at the time if there was potential for Season 2, Slater responded by saying, “Talk to Kevin Feige. Talk to Oscar Isaac. I think the ball’s really in their court.” He added, “It’s as much or as little Moon Knight as Oscar wants to do.”

As far as Slater is concerned, the showrunner is unlikely to return to the project for a follow-up, as he believes the Moon Knight series on Disney+ is nothing like what he originally intended. In his own words, “Director Mohamed Diab came in and basically built the entire writing room from scratch. So, in many ways, it’s very different.” He has since shifted his focus toward becoming a director.

Where Will Moon Knight Appear Next in the MCU?

With no word from Slater himself, some clues may hint at what will become of Marc Spector’s story in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel TV, said earlier this year that Marc Spector would return at some point.

While Season 2 of Moon Knight no longer appears to be in the picture, the character is rumored to appear in a Midnight Sons collaboration, with Oscar Isaac himself even hinting at Marvel discussing it.

The latest news regarding the character comes from The Cosmic Circus, which reported that Moon Knight may be moving to New York City. This could mean that Marc Spector will return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which is currently in production.

All things considered, nothing has been set in stone yet, and with Marvel’s schedule booked through 2026, fans will likely have to wait until at least 2027 for anything related to Moon Knight.
