Dwight Manfredi () spent the start of Season 4 trying to make his empire legal. By the end of Episode 3, “Cease & Desist”, most of it was closed, seized or worthless.

The premiere had Dwight reorganizing under Friedman Enterprises, an anagram of Manfredi, so the books looked clean on paper. After Governor Cal Thresher’s plane crashed into the Pacific, Amanda Clark (Gretchen Mol) took the top office, and she was already moving against his liquor operation by Episode 2.

The season trailer had hinted at raids on his casino, dispensary and distillery. Episode 3 delivered all three in a single hour.

Which Dwight Manfredi Did Governor Clark Shut Down?

The Montague distillery took the biggest hit. The first whiskey shipment, bound for New York, was ready to leave when federal agents halted production after saying they found lead in a screw. The batch was declared unfit for sale, the barrels were destroyed, a reported $150 million in whiskey was wiped out, and bourbon shipments were frozen.

Bred 2 Buck lost both its gambling and liquor licences. Without the liquor licence, the bar could no longer operate, which shut down the casino that had been Dwight’s most visible Tulsa business.

Even Higher Plane, Bodhi’s marijuana dispensary, was closed for sitting too close to a school. Federal agents seized its safe on the way out. Dwight suspected Clark, though the episode never proved she ordered any of it.

What Else Did Dwight Lose Alongside the Businesses?

The damage went past the storefronts. Mitch told Dwight that previously approved insurance claims had been denied, costing roughly $3 million.

The Northeast deal from the premiere went sour too. Dwight had offered Quiet Ray a 25% stake in exchange for distribution rights there, and with the whiskey destroyed, Ray still demanded his share. Dwight refused, and the call ended on hostile terms.

Very little was left standing. The ranch ran smoothly under Spencer, and Mitch bought the racehorse Curule, although the previous owners kept 10% of any winnings. Synopses for the next two episodes have Bodhi expanding a counterfeit operation and racing to make money from a wine business, and I think that is a sign Dwight’s next income will be shadier than what Clark shut down.

Clark did all of this with inspections, licences and paperwork, which left Dwight nothing to intimidate. But the bigger risk is what the money pressure does to his crew, since Tyson showed in the same episode how reckless a desperate crew can get.

Tulsa King Season 4 Episode 4, “Square One”, arrives Friday, November 6, with Dwight Manfredi set to regroup.
