What Happened in Steel Ball Run Episode 4?

Episode 4 brought the Boom Boom family’s murderous plan to a head. Mountain Tim caught up with Johnny and Gyro still convinced Johnny was behind the racer murders, then realized he had been framed. Benjamin Boom Boom and his sons, Andre and L.A., used a magnetic Stand to pull the trio together while dragging iron into their bodies.

Tim used his Stand, Oh! Lonesome Me, to escape the immediate danger, but the trap kept tightening. Gyro urged Johnny to apply the Spin to a lead bullet, and with Benjamin pinning him down, Johnny noticed his fingernails were spinning. That awakened Tusk ACT1, letting him fire a spinning nail that killed Benjamin and left L.A. incapacitated.

The awakening traces back to the Devil’s Palm, the desert location Tim says gave him his own Stand. Johnny and Gyro had passed through the same area earlier, which set the stage. Gyro’s Spin gave Johnny the principle, but the spinning nails belong to Johnny alone.

What to Expect From Steel Ball Run Episode 5

No official synopsis or preview has been released for Episode 5, so what comes next is unconfirmed. Johnny now has a weapon of his own, and Gyro’s Spin lessons have something real to build on. I expect the aftermath of the Boom Boom ambush to carry straight into the next leg of the race.

Tim also knows Johnny was framed, which changes where he stands with the pair, and I’ll be watching how that shapes the group as the race pushes on.

Steel Ball Run Episode 5 streams on Netflix this Friday, October 16.
