Chapter 1195 finally puts a name to the weapon Saint Rimoshifu Killingham uses to carve through Sanji, and the name arrives with a claim bigger than anything a Holy Knight has carried before. Killingham calls it “the Spear of Holy Life, Longinus” and says it helped create the world.

That lands after dozens of chapters spent working out how the Holy Knights can be beaten, and it quietly complicates the answer. If the spear is part of what makes Killingham what he is, then the Holy Knights’ power may not come only from regeneration and Devil Fruits.

What makes the reveal work is how casually Eiichiro Oda drops it as there is no dedicated splash page for Longinus.

Killingham simply keeps stabbing Sanji and treats every hit as a lesson, asking, “It hurts to learn your own weakness, doesn’t it?!” The weapon is explained in passing, almost as an insult to the man it is hurting, before a blast of lightning he calls “God’s Lightning” shows what it can do.

The same speech reveals what the spear is for. Killingham says the giants of Elbaph will soon be their “mighty servants,” which turns Longinus from a personal weapon into a tool of the Holy Knights’ plan for the island.

The chapter never says where the spear came from, but it doesn’t have to. Tying it to the creation of the world is enough to make it feel older and heavier than the Holy Knights’ earlier displays of power.

Chapters 1152 and 1187 Set the Stage for This Fight

Killingham has been the Elbaph arc’s most unsettling Holy Knight since the Holy Knights first moved on the giants’ children at Walrus School in Chapter 1140. His Devil Fruit lets him pull the dreams of sleeping people into reality, which is how he conjured the Rain God he now rides.

But the reason his fight with Sanji matters goes back to Chapter 1152, when Gaban explained the one rule that has shaped every Holy Knight fight since. They are not truly immortal, and only a high enough level of Conqueror’s Haki can overcome their regeneration. Sanji hoped Gaban was talking about him. Gaban pointed at Zoro.

Chapter 1187, titled “Ringleader,” is where that slight comes back around. Sanji declares he knows how to bring down a Holy Knight, and a flashback shows Gaban telling him that if he wants Luffy to become Pirate King, he has to become a king himself. Chapter 1195 closes the loop from the enemy’s side, with Killingham telling Sanji he lacks “the color of the supreme king” while the spear drives the point home.

Zoro’s fight shows why the spear matters as more than a weapon. In Chapter 1194, he repeatedly drove his sword at Sommers’ heart, and each failed strike taught him how to control his Conqueror’s Haki until Mihawk’s old lesson finally clicked.

Now Oda hands the same image to Sanji from the opposite direction. Zoro chose to keep striking until he understood his power, while Sanji is stuck absorbing blows, held back by his own habit of sacrificing himself. Longinus is what puts that flaw in front of him.

Is Longinus Connected to the Holy Knights’ Immortality?

That brings the spear back to the question the whole arc has circled. Gaban has said the Holy Knights’ regeneration can be broken by Conqueror’s Haki, and Zoro’s fight with Sommers has now shown limbs that refuse to regrow. Yet none of the Devil Fruits revealed so far, whether Sommers’ thorns or Killingham’s dream-making, explains why every Holy Knight regenerates in the first place.

A weapon called the Spear of Holy Life, tied to the creation of the world, is an obvious candidate for a shared source of that power. The chapter doesn’t confirm it, and Longinus may turn out to be nothing more than Killingham’s own weapon. But the name pairs “life” with the one trait that has made the Holy Knights so hard to kill, and if Sanji is the one who finally breaks through, the spear may end up answering the question by being the thing he has to overcome.
