During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Scottish actor confirmed he is reprising his fan-favorite mutant from 2003’s X2: United. While his signature blue skin and teleportation powers remain central to the character, Cumming revealed that Marvel Studios made a direct aesthetic adjustment to reflect the decades that have passed since his last outing.

“Different now. Oh, I have gray hair now,” Cumming told Fallon. “That’s a concession to me being older. They give me gray hairs… He’s a gray-haired superhero.”

Cumming also let slip that his production commitment is already in the rearview , noting that “it feels such a long time ago since I shot it, actually.”

Despite the physical aging of the character, the role required the actor to jump right back into intensive stunt work after a long break from blockbuster action sequences. Cumming recalled surprising the film’s younger French stunt team with his flexibility, crediting his background in boxing and core training for helping him keep up with the physical demands.

“They thought obviously that I was an old croak,” Cumming laughed. “And it was just, you know, it’s kind of nice because they’re sort of saying, ‘Oh, you’re fitter than we thought you were going to be.’ But it’s also ‘for your age’.”
