Gal Gadot is already thinking about where her new Amazon MGM Studios thriller The Runner could go next, and her pitch has nothing to do with running. Asked whether she’d sign on if director Kevin Macdonald proposed setting the sequel on a treadmill, Gadot reframed the entire franchise around food and relaxation instead.
Gal Gadot’s Pitch For The Runner Sequel Titles
Speaking with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Gadot laid out exactly how she sees the follow-up films taking shape.
“So I told him that I think the sequence, if we had The Runner, the next one should be The Foodie. The one after it should be The Spa, or something like that, I think,” she said.
It’s a tongue-in-cheek pivot, but it also signals how comfortable Gadot is treating The Runner as a launching point rather than a one-off. Macdonald is directing the original film, and Gadot’s response suggests she’s already envisioning a broader run.
Gadot also opened up about Bitcoin, the crime thriller she just wrapped with director Doug Liman alongside Casey Affleck and Pete Davidson. Asked whether the film draws from real events or takes a purely fictional approach, she called the shoot an intense but rewarding experience.
“I think it’s everything all together, and it’s crazy. We finished filming it a few months ago. It was a crazy experience. It was amazing to be able to work with Doug Liman and Pete Davidson and Casey Affleck.”
Gadot went on to compare Liman’s directing style to Macdonald’s more methodical approach on The Runner, describing Liman as a filmmaker who likes to revisit scenes and experiment on set.
“Oh Doug is so wonderful. He would try different things at different times.”
Between a treadmill joke and a Bitcoin heist alongside two comedic heavyweights, Gadot’s press run is proving just as entertaining as her filmography.
