A first look at Sadie Sink in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has sparked plenty of discussions and rumors on social media. Leaks and teaser footage have provided enough evidence to come to a single conclusion. Even without confirmation from Marvel Studios, several visuals strongly imply that the actress will take up the role of Jean Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As of today, there hasn’t been any confirmation from Marvel itself. However, some set photos and footage taken from trailers have been used to draw parallels with the comic books and provide additional insights about Sink’s character.

First visual leak suggests an iconic role

The very first image of Sadie Sink appeared in mid-April 2026. She appeared next to Punisher, portrayed by Jon Bernthal. The choice of her costume is quite interesting as well – a dark green parka on top of a yellow hoodie. This color combination matches Jean Grey’s outfit perfectly since both Marvel Girl and 1990s X-Men comics featured outfits with similar colors.

At first, the picture was dismissed by some fans since it had an obvious watermark placed by an AI algorithm. However, insiders claimed that this was the original image edited to make details clearer.

Teaser footage and story details confirm her mutant identity

The March 2026 trailer adds some more context. One scene shows Sink’s character restrained inside a chair located in the Department of Damage Control. Another moment reveals a violent explosion of psychic powers that creates strange waves of energy around her.

Additionally, the trailer has shown that Frank Castle was trying to protect her. Since he’s opposing Kingpin, that means that she was caught under the authority that treats enhanced humans and mutants as enemies.

There are many other potential characters that could play such a role (e.g., Typhoid Mary). However, the multi-film agreement that Sink reached with Marvel and the presence of psychic elements in the trailer make her Jean Grey almost certain.

The upcoming movie has a scheduled release date of July 31, 2026. Brand New Day is expected to serve as an important step in preparation for the arrival of the mutant-related storyline.
