There are also reports that the X-Men will be getting a reboot in 2028 and Jean Grey’s introduction could very well be the prelude to it. This is backed up by another insider report, according to which Marvel aims at a full-fledged reboot, while using Spider-Man’s next film as a stepping stone towards introducing the mutants.
Alex Perez originally considered other roles for Sadie Sink, but recent set photos made him change his mind about it. Industry insider James Mack confirmed the casting through additional insider leaks, revealing that Jean Grey’s involvement might not be a one-time thing. Instead, she’s said to make a cameo in multiple films and will be portrayed based on the X-Men ’97 series.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will once again feature Tom Holland in the lead role, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon making a return. They’ll be joined by Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo, as the latter two were previously seen in Spider-Man films, as well.
As the film will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring the likes of Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo, it seems like the casting could very well turn out to be true. Expected to be released on July 31, 2026, this film looks likely to lay the foundations for Marvel’s next reboot.
