On April 20, 2026, made a stunning announcement on the live television show Today. While talking about his next Marvel project, Reynolds stated that it will be Deadpool, although not the lead role as before. After a long time being the protagonist of his movies, Reynolds’ character will make a transition to become the sidekick, especially given the huge success of the Deadpool & Wolverine movie released in 2024, which collected over $1.3 billion worldwide.

Reynolds’ next Marvel movie will be more ensemble-oriented

When asked whether Deadpool would once again be the lead of his new movie, Reynolds replied by saying that he doesn’t want to put too much emphasis on this character, especially given that he works better in an ensemble cast where he can react to other people, especially when put in extreme situations, such as the lack of control. It sounds very much like something Reynolds said back in 2024 regarding how putting Deadpool among the major heroes, such as the Avengers, could undermine his uniqueness.

With Deadpool now being a side character in a bigger project, the question arises of which project is likely to feature this iconic Marvel superhero. One such movie is Avengers: Doomsday, set for release on December 18, 2026. This movie will be known for featuring one of the largest ensembles in the history of the , making it likely to include Deadpool as well.

According to Reynolds’ recent statements, he hasn’t yet announced anything concerning Deadpool because, according to the actor, he has “stuff kind of written”. Therefore, while not denying the news, Reynolds refuses to name any of the upcoming projects where his hero will play.

As we see, Marvel seems to take some measures to make sure that Deadpool continues to appear in their movies, despite the fact that this character no longer plays a key role in Marvel’s plans.

Moreover, future Deadpool projects will adhere to the Infinity Vision format, which means that Deadpool will likely continue appearing in future movies.
