Collett didn’t hold back on how tough the day actually was. “It was really hard for me to act dead that day because the performance was unbelievable and so real,” he said, speaking to Moviezine. “And I mean, watched the episode now, like [properly] on screen … even just hearing their voice, just screaming, and obviously Emma was pounding down on my body and it was just such a real reaction … They had to do that for like 10 hours that whole day. And each time was as strong as the other take.”
Ten hours of a scene partner delivering full intensity on every single take is a lot to stay motionless through. Collett wasn’t just holding his breath for a minute between cuts, he was committing to total stillness across an entire day of production.
He also revealed that the crew offered him some protection before filming started, and he turned it down flat. “Everyone kept coming up to me like… ‘Do you need padding?…’ and I was like, ‘No, no … Make it as real as possible,'” Collett explained.
That choice says a lot about how seriously the cast is treating this season. Choosing to feel every impact rather than cushion it is the kind of commitment that tends to show up on screen, and by Collett’s account, D’Arcy was matching that intensity take after take.
