His powers came later after exposure to an experimental mutagenic gas at an Oscorp facility. The mutation granted him superhuman strength while turning his skin into a marble-like substance that is highly resistant to bullets, physical attacks, and extreme temperatures.

Promotional footage for Spider-Man: Brand New Day includes a sequence inspired by the cover of The Spectacular Spider-Man #142. The scene recreates one of the comic’s most recognizable images involving Tombstone and Spider-Man.
