Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have started house-hunting in the Cotswolds after returning to the UK with their children, Archie and Lilibet, but reports suggest their requirements for a permanent home are anything but modest.

The Sussexes are staying temporarily at a wealthy friend’s property on the edge of the Cotswolds while they search for a house of their own. Despite reports of a potential £12 million purchase, three sources told the Daily Mail that no deal has been completed.
Meghan is said to want nine bedrooms, while Harry’s priority is privacy. A source told the newspaper that he wants “a lot – and I mean a lot – of land” and specifically does not want public footpaths crossing the property.
The couple are also reportedly looking for space that can support an outdoors-focused lifestyle for their children. Their friends say academics are not the main priority when it comes to Archie and Lilibet’s schooling, with a nurturing environment and strong sporting and outdoor activities ranking higher.
The children are expected to start at the same nearby prep school, giving Harry and Meghan a more permanent reason to spend time in Britain during the school year, with the couple’s friends describing the move as a long-term arrangement rather than a short visit.
Meghan is also said to be interested in having a film studio at the property. That could give her a private space for future media projects and content connected to her business interests.
The couple are planning to keep their Montecito mansion and their Portugal property, returning to California during school holidays. Harry is also expected to continue his charitable work in Britain, while Meghan’s business activities will remain primarily focused on the US market.
