Black Doves Season 2 brings a new name into the organization’s upper ranks, and Netflix has already hinted that he is not to be trusted. That is Mr. Conteh, played by Babou Ceesay, a Black Doves executive with suspicious motives who arrives while Helen’s handler is fighting to keep her place.
Season 1 treated Mrs. Reed as the face of the Black Doves, the spy organization that sells secrets to the highest bidder. That is why an executive showing up in Season 2 stands out. It points to layers around Reed that the first season kept mostly in the background, and Conteh is the first of them we meet.
Ceesay is best known for Alien: Earth, and fans may also recognize him from Into the Badlands, where he played Pilgrim, and from Wolfe. His casting was announced in November 2025 as production began, alongside Ambika Mod, Sam Riley and Neve Campbell.
Why Mr. Conteh Matters to Reed’s Storyline
Netflix’s synopsis says Reed is ensnared in a ruthless plot to undermine her position inside the Black Doves. A plot like that needs someone on the inside, and an executive with suspicious motives is the closest match in the cast list.
The trailer points the same way. Reed is gone, two Black Doves agents die suddenly, and a new handler takes over. That kind of reshuffle is how I would expect an executive to move against a spymaster, through the organization’s own structure instead of a gunfight.

What Mr. Conteh Could Mean for Helen
Helen’s position depends on Reed. Reed knows about her double life and controls how she works, so if Reed falls, Helen is exposed while Wallace is preparing to become prime minister. That is the part that makes Conteh interesting to me. He does not have to go after Helen directly. If he decides who handles her, he decides what she is allowed to do.
I would not call him the villain yet. Netflix’s synopsis calls him suspicious, not hostile, and Black Doves is a show where loyalties shift. Whether Conteh is working against Reed or protecting something bigger will likely be clear early in the season.
Black Doves Season 2 premieres Thursday, November 5, on Netflix, with all six episodes available at once.
