Black Doves Season 2 Release Time and Episode Count

Black Doves Season 2 officially premieres Thursday, November 5, 2026, on Netflix, and all six episodes release at once. There is no weekly wait this time, so the whole season is ready to binge from the first drop.
The date also lands on Bonfire Night in the UK, which feels fitting for a series that likes to blow things up. Netflix kicked off the return on November 2 with a drone show of 800 drones over the Thames. The streamer renewed the show in August 2024, months before Season 1 even premiered, and filming for Season 2 began in London in the fall of 2025.
| Time zone | Release time (Nov 5) | Episodes |
|---|---|---|
| Pacific (PT) | 12:00 a.m. | Episodes 1 to 6 |
| Eastern (ET) | 3:00 a.m. | Episodes 1 to 6 |
| UK (GMT) | 8:00 a.m. | Episodes 1 to 6 |
| India (IST) | 1:30 p.m. | Episodes 1 to 6 |
Netflix confirmed 12:00 a.m. PT as the drop time, and the other times follow from it. Season 1 is streaming now if you want a refresher first.
Who Is in the Black Doves Season 2 Cast?

Keira Knightley returns as Helen Webb, the spy who keeps feeding her nation’s secrets to the Black Doves while her husband climbs toward 10 Downing Street. Ben Whishaw is back as Sam Young, the once high-end assassin who has fallen a long way since Season 1.
Sarah Lancashire plays Mrs. Reed, Helen’s handler, who is now the one under threat. Andrew Buchan returns as Wallace Webb, Helen’s husband, who is preparing to become prime minister.
The Season 1 supporting players come back too. Kathryn Hunter is Lenny Lines, Ella Lily Hyland is Williams, Gabrielle Creevy is Eleanor, Agnes O’Casey is Dani, and Molly Chesworth is Marie.
The new additions are where the season gets dangerous:

- Ambika Mod (One Day) plays Laila, an acerbic and anarchic Black Doves agent sent to help Helen on a mission.
- Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth) plays Mr. Conteh, a Black Doves executive with suspicious motives.
- Sam Riley (Firebrand) plays Patrick, an emissary from a mysterious organization who offers Sam a lifeline.
- Neve Campbell (Scream, The Lincoln Lawyer) plays Cecile Mason.
- Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049) plays Katia Chernov.
- Goran Kostic (Canary Black, Ant-Man and the Wasp) plays Alexi Chernov.
- Samuel Barnett (Lee) plays Jerry.
Katia and Alexi share a surname, and I suspect they are tied together, though Netflix has not confirmed. Campbell’s Cecile Mason is the casting that will get the loudest reaction, given her Scream history.
Behind the camera, Joe Barton returns as writer, creator and executive producer, with Julian Farino and Kieron Hawkes directing the season.

What Happened in Black Doves Season 1? (Spoilers)

Black Doves season 1 follows Helen Webb, a politician’s wife who has spent a decade secretly feeding her husband’s secrets to Mrs. Reed and the Black Doves, an organization of spies that sells information to the highest bidder.
Helen was recruited in 2014 for her talent for disappearing without a trace, and Reed paired her with Sam, a triggerman who trained her and became her closest friend. Their first assignment targeted Wallace, the Conservative MP and defence secretary Helen would go on to marry.
However, Sam’s past is darker. His first job for crime boss Lenny Lines was killing his own father. Years later he could not kill a fourth target, a child, and lied to Lenny that the job was done. He then left London and his boyfriend Michael behind, and that child grew up to be Hector Newman, a crime figure who comes back into his life.
The season opens with Jason, Helen’s secret lover, shot dead along with a tabloid journalist and a jewelry worker, all of whom had links to Kai-Ming, the daughter of the Chinese ambassador. When the ambassador himself is killed, China blames the United States, the CIA denies it, and the threat of war hangs over everything. Reed fears Helen is in danger, so she pulls Sam out of exile to keep her safe, and the two end up hunting for the truth together.
The investigation pulls in the CIA’s Cole Atwood, whose trail points toward the Clark crime family, run by Alex Clark and her son Trent. Sam’s old life closes in at the same time. Lenny forces him back into her service and threatens Michael, an attack hits Sam’s home, and Michael learns that the man he thought worked in insurance is an assassin. Hector holds Kai-Ming, and Sam ends up teaming with Eleanor and Williams, Lenny’s assassins, who come over to his side to take Hector’s crew down.

The finale, “In the Bleak Midwinter,” ties it together. Helen finds a pinhole camera hidden in a safe at the jewelry shop where the murdered worker once worked. The footage shows Trent shoving the ambassador, who hit his head and died. Trent called his mother, and Alex sent Stephen Yarrick to clean up the scene with the Prime Minister’s knowledge.
Trent then had Jason and the others killed to wipe out anyone who knew. Helen tracks Trent down through the logo on his cap and forces him to call Alex, which sets up a standoff where Sam shoots them both. A mysterious phone call then makes clear the killings will not go unanswered.
The tape proves the British and Americans were not involved, so China backs down. Reed admits she sent Sam to kill Alex, and she tells Helen that Jason was an MI5 officer assigned to assess whether Helen was a spy. His report cleared her. Wallace is set to replace the Prime Minister, and Helen drops Jason’s chip into the Thames. Sam tells Lenny about Hector’s job offer, spares her, and decides to stay in London, then spends Christmas Day at Helen’s home.
A late reveal also showed that Marie, the family’s nanny, was working for Reed and keeping watch on Helen. The season ends on a warm family morning and a smirk from Helen straight into the camera, hiding the truth from the people she loves.
What Is Black Doves Season 2 About?

Netflix’s synopsis picks up with Helen still betraying her nation’s secrets to the Black Doves. But with Wallace preparing to become prime minister, she is walking a more treacherous line than ever.
Reed becomes ensnared in a ruthless plot to undermine her position inside the organization, and that pulls Helen back together with Sam. He is now reduced to lonely drinks in Soho bars and low-rate hits.
However, as they search for answers, loyalties are weaponized, trust is shattered, and protecting the people they love could cost everything. The investigation leads them back to old friends and enemies, and the story moves between London and Paris.
I read the season as a role reversal. Season 1 had Reed protecting Helen, and now Helen and Sam are the ones trying to protect Reed.
Who Is Going After Helen in Black Doves Season 2?

The trailer points at threats from every direction. Reed goes missing after an attack, two Black Doves agents die suddenly, and a new handler steps in to replace her. At the same time, a mysterious voice tells Wallace, “I’m not sure that your wife is who you think she is.” That line puts Helen’s cover as a politician’s wife at real risk for the first time.
Here is my read on the likely suspects. Mr. Conteh is the most obvious pick, since Netflix describes him as a Black Doves executive with suspicious motives, and an executive is exactly who would move against Reed.
Patrick belongs on the list too, because the organization he represents is offering Sam a lifeline, and offers like that rarely come free. The Chernovs and Cecile Mason are open questions, and I would not rule any of them in or out yet.
There are also loose threads from Season 1. The Clark family is gone, but Sam’s target did not leave with them, and the mysterious phone call near the end of the season hinted that Sam’s actions would come back on him.
