Fans who fell in love with the announcement trailer back in early 2025 have been left wondering if this ambitious JRPG quietly slipped off the release calendar entirely.
Edge of Memories comes from Midgar Studio, the French developer behind Edge of Eternity, and it was originally supposed to launch in Fall 2025. That window came and went without a game in hand, which is usually a red flag for anticipated titles. So when a fan asked directly if the project was still alive, the official account didn’t dodge the question.
The game is set in the world of Heryon, on the plague-ravaged continent of Avaris, where players control Eline, a wandering Soul Whisperer trying to hold back a corruption that turns people and wildlife into monsters. It leans hard into anime-inspired visuals built on Unreal Engine 5, and the pedigree behind it reads like a JRPG fan’s wishlist, with character designer Raita Kazama, composer Yasunori Mitsuda, and NieR vocalist Emi Evans all contributing.
Is Edge Of Memories Still Coming Out?
Yes, and it’s about as official as confirmation gets. Replying directly to a fan on X on July 7, the official Edge of Memories account put any doubt to rest, writing “Edge of Memories is safe, planned for release later this year!”
That statement lines up with everything Nacon and Midgar Studio have been showing since the Fall 2025 delay. Rather than going dark during the wait, the team has kept rolling out new content to show the game is on track.
In May 2026, Midgar Studio used the Nacon Connect livestream to reveal a new gameplay overview trailer, walking through how Eline and her companions, Ysoris and Kanta, traverse Avaris to fight back the Corrosion. That same showcase confirmed players will be able to build out three different skill loadouts to customize how their party fights.
Then came the biggest proof of life yet before this week’s tweet. Nacon and Midgar Studio launched a free demo on June 15, 2026, as part of Steam Next Fest, letting players run through the game’s opening chapter. That demo clocks in at nearly two hours, covering the Estfalian Coast, Eline’s first combos and Ysoris’ abilities, the enemy weakness system, and a boss fight that reveals Eline’s hidden transformation into the Black Beast.
However, an exact release date hasn’t been locked in yet, and there’s no word on the game landing in Xbox Game Pass or PS Plus at launch. What’s confirmed is the platform lineup and the timing. Edge of Memories is set to release later this year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
With the developer now explicitly ruling out another delay, a full date announcement feels like the next logical step, likely tied to another Nacon showcase in the coming months. Anyone curious about the game doesn’t have to wait for that announcement to get a taste of Avaris, since the Steam demo is already playable right now.
