Boruto: Two Blue Vortex just did something it hasn’t done in three years, and fans are still processing it.
The manga has run without a single break since Ikemoto and Kishimoto relaunched the story back in August 2023, delivering a new chapter almost every month like clockwork. That streak made the announcement buried in the latest V Jump issue hit even harder, because instead of a normal next-month release, readers are being told to wait.
The timing stings a little too. August marks Two Blue Vortex‘s third anniversary of serialization, and instead of a celebration chapter, the series is stepping away entirely for the month.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 37 Release Date and Time
Chapter 37 is confirmed for V Jump’s extra-large 11th issue of 2026, releasing September 18 in Japan. For readers outside Japan, that translates to September 17 at your normal release window, since VIZ and MANGA Plus typically post the English translation the moment the Japanese issue drops. Two sneak peeks are expected ahead of the full chapter, landing on the 11th and the 15th.
Chapter 36, which came out July 20 in English and July 21 in the original Japanese release, ended on a gut punch. Code tracked down the markers hidden on Sarada and stripped them before Boruto could use her to reach the Divine Tree hideout, and Kashin Koji tried to warn him not to teleport in.
Boruto left before the message finished. That cliffhanger is exactly why the hiatus stings, since the story is mid sprint into what’s being teased as Boruto’s Otsutsuki transformation and possibly his strongest fight yet.
No official reason has been given for the break beyond letting Ikemoto and Kishimoto rest, which tracks with how grueling monthly manga production can be even outside the old Weekly Shonen Jump grind. Series like Black Clover and D.Gray-man have taken similar irregular scheduling for the same reason.
There’s no word yet on a special anniversary event to make up for the missed August issue, though Shueisha could still announce something before September. For now, the countdown is locked in.
