As the 30th anniversary of ‘s death approaches next year, reports of a solo documentary led by and narrated by his wife, , are stirring backlash, especially with refusing to take part in any tribute.

Prince Harry’s Solo Diana Tribute Is Facing Backlash

According to The Times, Prince William has firmly declined multiple overtures to appear in or produce broadcast tributes marking next year’s milestone, having previously stated during the 20th anniversary that their joint candid reflections would be their final public word on the matter.

William’s total boycott has intensified skepticism surrounding Harry’s reported media plans through Archewell and Netflix. Debating the move on Royals Uncensored, broadcaster Mark Dolan and royal panelists strongly questioned the Duke of Sussex’s motivations if he chooses to commercialize the anniversary without his brother by his side.

“A Harry-produced documentary about Diana contains no moral authority if he takes money for it and if William is not involved,” Dolan argued. “After the book Spare and after the Oprah interview, I don’t think Prince Harry can be trusted to tell Diana’s story. The narrative will be one-sided.”

Panelists noted that while William aims to honor Diana’s legacy through charitable action, particularly his signature initiatives tackling homelessness, Harry risks alienating the public if his tribute is viewed as another lucrative media venture.

Though legal commentator Paula Rhone-Adrien defended Harry’s right to earn a living and mourn in his own way, she conceded that William’s complete absence remains deeply tragic.

With palace insiders already anticipating a fraught year as Diana’s milestone coincides with Queen Camilla’s 80th birthday, a solo documentary risks reopening deep fraternal wounds and further fracturing an already divided family narrative.
