When Ian takes the tape to be digitally remastered, I realized we were finally looking at the abduction from a forensic angle the original detectives completely missed. By scrubbing out the vocal distortion and isolating the low-frequency background hum, Ian exposes a very specific mechanical rattle idling nearby. It isn’t generic road traffic or city transit; it is the unique, stuttering engine idle and exhaust whine of an aging utility van.

Knowing that he looked Ian in the eye every week in recovery while secretly shielding the couple raising Ian’s daughter as Sarah turns Donnie from a sympathetic mentor into the most monstrous figure in the story.
Ian thought he was fighting an indifferent system, but as I watched him realize the truth, it became clear that his closest confidant was the one keeping him in the dark all along.
