Katy Perry has heard the jokes about her. At a recent Q&A in Los Angeles for her concert documentary, Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live From Paris, the pop star was asked about the criticism that followed some of her tour performances, and she decided not to fight the label that had followed her online.
Instead, Perry embraced it. She acknowledged the “Queen of Cringe” nickname and made it clear that she has no intention of changing how she performs simply because people online have decided they do not like it.
“Like, this is how I fucking dance. OK, what’s up? I’m having fun. I am living my whole life,” Perry declared.
She then expanded on the way she approaches the criticism, framing it as part of a much larger decision to make the most of the opportunities she has been given.
“You want to call me the queen of cringe? I am going to suck the juice out of every single one of these fruits on this life. I’m going to never have any regrets. I’m going to leave no stone unturned. I’m going to live my life to the fullest. I am not scared.”
Perry’s comments also reflected on the scale of her career and the fact that she does not want to spend her life trying to recreate her biggest successes. Looking back at Teenage Dream, she compared the album’s enormous success to climbing Mount Everest once rather than needing to prove herself by doing it again.
“Teenage Dream was like a [Mount Everest], and I climbed it and I saw the view and there’s so many other mountains with so many other views. I don’t need to climb Everest twice to be like, ‘I climbed Everest twice.’”
That refusal to chase past peaks carried into how she talked about the tour itself, which she described as a physically and emotionally demanding chapter rather than a victory lap.
The Emotional Toll Behind The Lifetimes Tour
The mindset seems especially relevant after a tour that Perry admitted was not always easy. She discussed the emotional toll of spending weeks away from home and said she struggled while performing in Australia during the tour’s earlier stretch.
“There were days that were hard. Let me tell you, it was hard before July 28, [2005]. And then it got cute. It got really cute,” she said.
Perry’s comments came as she celebrated The Lifetimes Tour in Los Angeles with fans at an IMAX screening of the concert film. During the event, she even joined the audience for the closing performance of “Firework,” turning the screening into something closer to a live celebration.
The Lifetimes Tour — Live From Paris was filmed during two sold-out shows at Paris’ Accor Arena in November 2025. The concert film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas and IMAX internationally on September 2, 2026.
Perry’s “Queen of Cringe” response ultimately says more about her attitude toward fame than any individual viral moment.
