Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s decision to move their family back to Britain is already drawing scrutiny over the timing, and one GB News correspondent thinks acting has a lot to do with it. Royal correspondent Cameron Walker addressed the theory directly, pointing out that people close to Meghan haven’t shut it down.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed they’re relocating from Montecito, California, back to the UK six years after stepping back as working royals. Their children, seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet, are already enrolled in local schools ahead of a September start.
According to Walker, sources close to Meghan haven’t denied that continuing her acting career is a contributing factor behind the move.
“I suspect this is one of the primary factors for Meghan,” he said.
That silence from her camp has only added fuel to reporting elsewhere that Meghan has been offered a role in a UK-based production, something Variety has also since confirmed through its own sources.

What Their Return to Britain Actually Looks Like

The Sussexes aren’t returning as working royals, and there are no current plans for either of them to resume official duties. They’re set to live in a non-royal residence outside London rather than moving back into a royal property, and Harry will keep working through his ongoing legal fight with the Home Office over his UK security arrangements.
Meghan, meanwhile, isn’t stepping away from her other ventures either. She plans to keep running her lifestyle brand As Ever from the new UK base, and she’s already easing back into acting with a cameo as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy Close Personal Friends, alongside Brie Larson and Lily Collins.
Before marrying Harry in 2018, Meghan spent seven seasons playing paralegal Rachel Zane on Suits, a role that made her a recognizable face well before she became a royal. She stepped away from acting entirely once she joined the family, telling the BBC at the time that she saw it as “a new chapter” rather than something she was giving up.
Whether this new UK project turns into a full-blown comeback or just a one-off, Meghan clearly isn’t ruling acting out anymore. With the family expected on British soil within weeks, more details about the role and the timeline are likely to surface soon.
