I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day has spent five episodes building Sheena and Mimi’s bond in the foreground, but Episode 6, titled “Welcome Home,” finally hands the spotlight to Seiran, and it might be the most gutting perspective the show has offered yet.
Up until now, Seiran has mostly existed on the edges of the story. She’s Ali’s partner, she’s sharp-tongued, and she clearly cares more than she lets on. Episode 6 changes that. It gives her a moment where she lays out exactly what she’s fighting for, and it’s not the noble, self-sacrificing speech fans might expect from a war anime. It’s something rawer.
Why Seiran Can’t Afford To Hold Back
Seiran makes it clear that trying her hardest to be chosen isn’t optional for her. She frames it as the only path that makes sense of everything she’s already given up. Her life at the orphanage, the years of training, all of it only means something if she pushes through to the end.
That’s a different kind of fear than the show has leaned on before. Sheena’s arc is about being powerless to protect the people she loves. Seiran’s arc is about what happens when you have power, and the only way to keep what matters to you is to use it, over and over, in a system that was never built to let you walk away.

The other half of Seiran’s confession ties directly back to Ali. Not trying her hardest wouldn’t just be a personal failure. It would mean throwing away her shot at a future with the one person who’s given the orphanage’s brutal routine any meaning at all.
Ali’s response, offering her full support, lands as one of the episode’s quieter but heavier beats. It’s not a scene built for spectacle. It’s two people quietly acknowledging that the stakes are real, and that backing down isn’t an option either of them can live with.
Fans reacting to the episode described their overall feeling as fear, and Seiran’s arc is a big part of why. The show has always made it clear that survival at this orphanage comes with a cost. Episode 6 is the first time that cost has felt personal to a character who isn’t Sheena or Mimi.
Where this leaves Seiran going into Episode 7 is still an open question. But if Episode 6 proved anything, it’s that this show has more than one relationship worth caring about, and more than one character with something to lose.
