Tom Holland isn’t just hoping Miles Morales shows up in the MCU someday. He’s actively trying to make it happen.

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day just weeks away from hitting theaters, Holland has been unusually candid during the film’s press cycle about what he wants Spider-Man’s future to look like. And for him, that future has Miles Morales in it.

Tom Holland Says He Has “Aspirations” to Bring Miles to the MCU

Speaking to Hobby Consolas, Holland said bringing Miles Morales into the MCU remains one of his biggest goals.

“I know that I have aspirations to bring Miles Morales into the universe, however that works out,” Holland said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do to bring that to life. But I feel really strongly about it.”

For Holland, the desire isn’t just about expanding the Spider-Man franchise. It’s also about paying forward the guidance he received when he first joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I feel incredibly grateful for the way I was introduced into this world and that I was shepherded by RDJ,” he explained. “And I would love to kind of return that favor to the next generation of people that get the luxury of making these movies.”

That’s why Holland believes Miles Morales is the ideal character to help usher in Marvel’s next generation of Spider-Man stories.

Here’s where it gets complicated. Marvel boss Kevin Feige has confirmed that Sony instructed Marvel Studios to “stay away” from Miles Morales, likely to protect the ongoing Spider-Verse animated franchise from competing with a live-action version. That’s a significant wall.

Sony owns the permanent film and live-action rights to Spider-Man, and any Miles Morales MCU appearance would require a negotiated agreement between both studios, similar to the deal that brought Holland’s Peter Parker into the MCU in the first place. Given how much money Sony has made off the Spider-Verse films, they have every reason to be protective.

Miles does exist in the MCU in some form already. Donald Glover played his uncle Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming, with a brief tease of a nephew named “Miles.” But that seed was planted nearly a decade ago, and nothing has grown from it since. The multiverse angle is likely the cleanest path forward, especially after Secret Wars reshapes the MCU landscape.

Holland’s comments aren’t a green light. They’re the wishful thinking of an actor who genuinely loves the character and the franchise he’s built. But the fact that he keeps bringing it up, during a major press cycle no less, suggests these conversations are happening at some level.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
