Blizzard just dropped the reveal fans have been waiting for, and Overwatch’s next hero is unlike anything the roster has seen before.

is a first for the game in more ways than one. She appears to be an Omnic with a fully human face, something the franchise has never done before. The design has already set the community buzzing, and one look at her artwork makes it easy to see why.

What We Know About Shion and Overwatch Season 3

Shion is billed as the most terrifying elder of the Hashimoto Clan, a Japanese criminal family with ties to the global terrorist organization Talon. The clan is also behind the assassination of Sojiro Shimada, the father of Hanzo and Genji. That connection sets up some compelling story potential for Season 3.

Her Omnic identity is subtle but deliberate. Cybernetic speakers in her neck, faint identification dots beneath her hair, and a line in the reveal trailer where she tells Sojourn, “you fight well for a human,” all confirm what she is.

In terms of abilities, Blizzard hasn’t confirmed her full kit yet. The reveal trailer shows her dual-wielding pistols, using a red energy blade in close quarters, and throwing her motorcycle at an enemy. She is confirmed as a Damage-class hero, following Sierra, who arrived in Season 2.

Season 3 is titled “Into the Tiger’s Den” and also brings a new Japan-inspired Payload map, the first new map for regular game modes since Overwatch dropped the “2” from its name earlier this year. A major collaboration with Japanese music duo YOASOBI is also scheduled for June 30, bringing a new animated music video, a collaboration song, and skins for Kiriko, Genji, Hanzo, and additional heroes.

Shion is the seventh new hero added since Overwatch’s 2026 rebrand, with Blizzard promising a total of ten new heroes across the full year. The pace of releases has kept base engaged, and Shion looks like the most story-rich drop yet.

Overwatch Season 3: Into the Tiger’s Den launches June 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. PT on all platforms. Shion will be available to all players at launch for free.
