Based on the trailer footage, one of the leading fan theories is that Sink is portraying a reimagined version of Mesmero instead of Jean Grey. In Marvel Comics, Mesmero is a mutant whose hypnosis requires direct eye contact, making the blindfold shown in the trailers a logical restraint.
