Hollywood super-agent Ari Emanuel has delivered a characteristically unvarnished verdict regarding his former professional ties with Meghan Markle, dropping a sharp comment about where the Duchess of Sussex is headed next.

Speaking to The Times, the 65-year-old executive chairman of WME Group addressed his past representation of Markle, whom he stopped working with directly after the two parted ways last year. When pressed on where he envisioned her Hollywood trajectory heading, Emanuel offered a curt dismissal.
“Here’s the great thing: I don’t have to think about that anymore,” Emanuel replied.
The blunt remark created immediate confusion across the industry. Despite Emanuel’s personal detachment from her career, a spokesperson for WME confirmed to PEOPLE that the agency as a whole still represents both Markle and Archewell Productions, declining to elaborate further on Emanuel’s pointed words.
Markle originally signed with WME in April 2023 with substantial fanfare, with Emanuel, Brad Slater, and Jill Smoller initially designated to lead her team in expanding business ventures, film and television projects, and brand partnerships. However, Emanuel’s day-to-day involvement proved brief, with reports surfacing earlier this year that both he and Slater had stepped back from managing her account just months into the deal.
Emanuel’s candid remarks arrive as Markle quietly examines a return to screen acting, with reports surfacing that she has been in talks for a featured role in Season 3 of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix hit The Gentlemen, which would mark her most high-profile acting endeavor since stepping away from Suits in 2018.
